Titans womens basketball is resurrecting under new Autumn Rademacher (Detroit '97).
Detroit (1-2) stunned #23 Georgia (2-1) 70-66 to record the program's first win against a ranked opponent.
The Titans features 6 freshmen including 2 starting freshman guards that were instrumental in beating a team picked to finish 4th in the SEC.
Box scoreHere's an interview I did with Autumn which aired during the mens game that evening:
Click HereWhat's most impressive is what Autumn's been able to do with the roster she inherited and the little time for recruiting she had and the talent she was able to bring in on short notice. 2 of the 3 starting guards were freshmen playing their first game at Calihan Hall!
I've been calling Titans games on the
Horizon League Network for 3 seasons now and this was by far the best the team has ever looked. Hopefully this will spiral into more success for Autumn in her first year at the helm!
The game will be archived on the
Horizon League Network in short time. Sign up is free and the game should be available "on demand" in the next few days.

A championship game ending in a tie w/ co-champions named. Sounds unthinkable, right?
Wrong.
Marquette and Orchard Lake St. Mary's skated to a 1-1 tie after 8 overtimes in the 2008 Division 1 Boys Hockey Championship at Compuware Arena.
A smattering of fans booed and prep sports message boards were filled with posters calling foul on the MHSAA. One look at the expressions on the players and coaches faces and you realize the right decision was made.
After the 3rd overtime, it was clear the players were gassed. Odd man rushes and breakaways were finishing with weak wristers to the chest of the goalies (rather than trying to find corners of the net) and many times, they simply couldn't handle the puck past a few strides, it would bounce off their sticks. It got bad in the final two overtimes when both goalies nearly scored "own goals" with poor puck handling. Keep in mind the two netminders combined to stop 91 of the 93 shots they faced. This was serious fatigue setting in and even reports of the team trainers telling coaches a couple players had stopped sweating and were suffering from severe dehydration.
The MHSAA tournament officials met with both head coaches after the 8th overtime. The health of the student athletes is always the top priority in educational athletics and this case was no different.
The neatest part of the evening was seeing both teams combine at center ice for the stanley cup style photos.
I had the honor of doing the color commentary on the MHSAA's Championship Radio Network. I can honestly say, after 109 minutes (the longest game in National High School Hockey History) and over 4-1/2 hours of gameplay, the correct decision was made.
I had the pleasure of joining Stoney and Wojo at Spring Training ... it was my first time down there in nearly 15 years and needless to say I had a blast.
Here's a few one-on-one interviews I did for the guys to chop up and use during sports updates...
