Nerd of Batman, sports, logic, objectivity, Star Trek, personal enlightenment, Lincoln, the Rays, psychology, mic dropping. Kind've in that order.
I think Dave Dombrowski used the term, it's floated around articles, the Web and Twitter, but please don't get romanticized by the phrase SHORT STOP OF THE FUTURE. That line alone doesn't turn Jose Iglesias into a better hitter. *Note* If Nick Castellanos had been dubbed BLANK OF THE FUTURE, I'm certain Tiger fans would've already kidnapped him from Toledo and dropped him on Comerica's doorstep by now, so I'm happy Castellanos just falls under potential, rather than BOTF. Iglesias will likely be a Tiger for quite sometime, but if you're going to get all wound up over BLANK OF THE FUTURE I'm going to get aggravated when you start slamming the guy because he's probably going to often be an automatic out in the Tiger lineup. With that said, enjoy his slick fielding.
Not as fantastic as Will Ferrell doing NBA intros, but Ken Jeong doing the Dodgers starting lineup is worth a watch. How long have they done this? Sure, the place is still kinda empty, but good for LA for having fun...in baseball...who knew!?
This is the most shameful thing I've ever seen an umpire do. Worse than the blown perfect game, worse than Miguel just getting tossed. Ump Eric Cooper marched 1/3 of the way to the mound to berate AJ Burnett.
Riley Cooper, video, fallout, apologies. Marcus Vick is a low life, but while his brother, and other Eagles like Fletcher Cox and Jason Avant accepted Cooper's apology, I do believe there will be Eagle opponents looking to blow up Cooper this year, and there's probably very little his teammates can do about it. Cooper, said he'd accept any consequences - it's just a team fine for now - and part of that may be getting laid out during a game.
On Avant, this was deserving of a RT and an embed here.

Looks like the Pirates listened to the Internet, bloggers, writers or some amalgamation of them and made a significant offer for Giancarlo Stanton.
Showalter is correct, a suspension of ARod rids the Yankees of him and his lousy performance AND gives the Yankee payroll relief. Yes, this is trouble, but I highly encourage someone in Philly to taint something Ryan Howard ingests, then frame him up, so the Phillies can too reset.
