The Bio
Born in the beautiful UP town of Newberry, in 1979. Wanted to be a TV Weatherman for most of my life, until I decided that being a meteorologist would include waaaay to many math and physics classes. Decided on sports broadcasting my senior year in high school and quickly started broadcasting high school basketball and football on WNBY.

Went to Central Michigan because of its reputation as an excellent broadcasting school (it is, go there, ignore Specs) and was pretty much on-air multiple times a week DJ-ing  and broadcasting various college and high school sports on WMHW Modern Rock 91.5.

After graduating and getting married in the spring of 2002, I went to work for the Palace of Auburn Hills as an audio engineer for Pistons games and did my best to find a job in radio. I harrassed Rona (WDFN's Program Director) into giving me a job producing and finally got a break that fall.

In 2005, I started working as an update anchor and found full-time work as a traffic producer/reporter for Total Traffic Network. Since then I've worked my way up to Director of Operations for TTN here in Detroit.

Other Notes:

--Have done the radio broadcast for the MHSAA's State Football Finals with best friend and CMU Alum, Joe Mazeika.

--Worked both of the Pistons trips to the NBA Finals as an audio engineer and got to go into the locker room to watch Kid Rock make a drunken spectacle of himself to Stoney.

Congratulations, you now know more about me than my friends do.

Darren McCarty is a wonderful guy!
Sunday 04-13-2008 12:47am ET
Mitch Albom - You remember him - the guy who used to be a pretty good journalist until every single column he writes had to be a feel good story. He wrote an article about Darren McCarty today that was some of the lamest and most contrived drivel that has ever graced the black on white. Let's gloss over all of the heartache this man has cost many people in his life and turn it into a fairy tale about angels and redemption.

What a crock. Mitch, I challenge you to at least glance at some of the actual reporting your paper did when McCarty first started his comeback. Trust me, it's not something that'll give you the warm and fuzzies.

Think I'm overreacting? Here's the first line: "He skated down the middle and the puck caromed his way, a gift from the angles (sic), a gift from the goalie, a gift, some would say, from God above."

Are you kidding me? If God was involved in any of the goals scored in Saturday's game, it'd be Radulov's goal that went off the end boards to the front of the net. That was a crazy bounce.

Albom isn't as much a journalist anymore as he is a pharmacist - a dispensary for Prozac prescribed by an editor for whenever the Freep needs 10" of feelgood.

And the only miracles here are for McCarty's creditors.

For a more even-tempered column about the same issue, try reading Michael Rosenberg.
